Everquest II Extended Free-to-Play Earlier this week, Sony Online Entertainment became the latest company to announce changes to their pay-to-play model for their successful MMO, Everquest II.  The company decided to follow Turbine's free-to-play and microtransaction system implemented for both Dungeons and Dragons Online and Lord of the Rings Online.

Late last night Wizards of the Coast announced that they will not only be bringing Duels of the Planeswalkers to the PC, but they will be bringing it to you via steam on June 1st. For anyone who is a regular on the site they know that we have known about the PC release since our interview with them at PAX Boston, however none of us knew it would be through Steam. Read on for the official press release.

Blizzard today released the patch notes for the upcoming Starcraft 2 beta patch 13. Even though the patch hasn't actually landed yet they wanted to give us a sneak peak of the changes. Also, they released their new situation report alongside it to explain the reasoning for each of the changes.

Blizzard today announced the beta launch of their remote auction house. This service will be accessible through either an iPhone app or the online WoW Armory. Something that is sure to frustrate some, to access the true features of the service you will need to pay an additional $2.99 monthly access fee.

StarCraft 2 fans can now start crying! On the official b.net forums Nethaera put a post stating that the StarCraft 2 beta will officially take a vacation starting on May 31st in all regions. According to the post they will be closing the beta down for a few weeks to make some hardware and software tweaks. The beta will then re-launch a few weeks prior to the release which is slated for July 27th.

Blizzard has released both the patch and situation report for round 12 of changes. In Patch/Situation Report 12 we see a very small set of changes but a few of them are big. Another Roach nerf and a Thor buff? A very interesting small patch.

Today Wizards of the Coast announced that the official release of Duels of the Planeswalkers second expansion will be made available tomorrow on XBLA for 400 MS Points. Read on for further details on the expansion.

Mac Gamers Can Rejoice, Twice.

Today and yesterday probably brought a tear of joy to anyone who is out in the gamer world who is a Mac gamer. Yesterday was news of the Starcraft 2 Beta being available with a Mac Client. Today Valve confirmed a release date of May 12th for a Mac version of Steam.

Today Valve released their newest update for Team Fortress 2. The patch includes a new Scout class unlock which when activated makes all damage the scout deals and receives a mini-crit. It also adds a new map cp_freight, along with a whole host of bug fixes and balance changes.

People Still Buy Floppy Disks?

Today might mark the demise of that infamous legendary creature, the floppy disk. Some of us who are at least in our mid-upper 20's remember them vividly. Those little disks held our suite of Commodore-64 games, our book reports, and even some game saves. Sony today announced that they will soon end production on the floppy disk.

In a follow-up to our previous article, Blizzard has announced they intend to appeal the adult-only rating handed down to the game in South Korea. The original rating was given to Starcraft 2 based on an early build which was said to be adult-only because of "drug use, adult language, and excessive violence"
