Valve To Bring Steam to Macs Valve announced today that the Mac gaming crisis is finally being addressed. Steam and all of Valve's games running on Source Engine will be available on Mac computers in April of this year. Though I don't really care for Mac, I agree that it's about time. What does this mean for gaming? Valve is a big dog in the gaming industry, they may be the ones to start the trend of companies developing both PC and Mac. One other big feature is cross platform support: If you have a Mac and PC, your games will be available for both Mac and PC for free. The last important feature is that Mac and PC versions of games will be together on multiplayer servers.

SWTOR - Friday Update (02.05.10)

As I’m sure MANY of you are most assuredly excited about, we get something to read about this week. The development of the Sith Inquisitor…The only problem with them releasing this: THEY’VE ALREADY GIVEN US SOMETHING INVOLVING THE SITH INQUISITOR NEARLY EVER WEEK THEY’VE PROVIDED UPDATES! Why can’t they give us something involving the mysterious Bounty Hunter, or perhaps the apparently VERY super-secret operative Trooper class? Oh well, more on what I can dissect after the break.

Composing the Sith Inquisitor:

  • “The Sith Inquisitor is RaistlinI would just like to say, I’m super excited they mentioned a Dragonlance character for comparison!
  • With the mention of Darth Maul, Asajj Ventress, and Count Dooku, they appear to be further hinting that the Sith Inquisitor’s “second path” will fall along the lines of the athletic, force-wielding rogue (sort of a melee hunter if you will, but actually functional). Perhaps these three “inspirations” are split up between the Warrior and Inquisitor, though.
  • “I will say that yes there are some freaky artifacts involved” – Seems to me like they’re hinting at Sith artifacts…as in Sith alchemy…if that is (indeed) the case, look out for those intrusive black Lightsabers; they’ll get you when you’re not looking.
  • The only other thing to catch is that you start out as a slave being the Inquisitor, which is somewhat funny (though already known). It’s funny as the matter of a low-life having the title of “Inquisitor” where a noble would generally be performing that sort of action over a slave, and the slaves would fall along the lines of being the brutal warrior as they aren’t generally well educated. There’s Bioware’s story for you.

It really just appears that they’re attempting to (again) emphasize that the Sith Warrior and Sith Inquisitor aren’t the same class, even by story. Really nothing new there, but I thought I might tell you: They’re not the same class. See how easy that was? Yet, Bioware decided to give us a blog that says pretty-much nothing, and tells us everything that’s already been said in a “Back of the book” synopsis style. I suppose that’s great for the people that don’t keep up with The Old Republic too well, but I would have personally preferred a Fan Friday…Is that bad?

Either way, I’d say just be patient and distract yourself with a pretty game while Bioware recovers from what appears to me (and Tor-O Cast) as a set-back in their schedule. They can’t do anything about the hype they’ve generated over the past few years, as most of what gets out involving dates is usually a slip or leak that was nowhere near intended by them. Just sit back, and enjoy the bad updates!
